Estella Arias uses her 15 years of experience in the publishing industry to help authors accomplish their greatest aspirations. Her interest in publishing developed while she was studying French Literature at the Sorbonne in Paris. There, she met Bika Reed, a Yugoslavian author/composer/film director from London who became her mentor and close friend. Estella eventually moved to London where she began editing Bika’s manuscripts. Shortly thereafter, she took on a position at Avon Books in New York City. After two years at Avon Books, Estella moved to Vermont to work for Inner Traditions/Bear & Co., where she held the titles of Director of Foreign Rights and Art Director. Estella enjoys being a catalyst for authors whose work she believes in and being a part of their success. She was born in Cuba and was raised in Madrid, Spain.
Ms. Arias held the titles of Director of Foreign Rights and Art Director for a period of 8 years. As Director of Foreign Rights, she expanded the horizons of our business dramatically, securing agencies in every major market, and tripling sales of foreign licenses for our 400 plus titles. That Ms. Arias accomplished this, while simultaneously running Inner Traditions’ Art Program, gives you some idea of her talent, enthusiasm, and commitment. In addition to her pioneering work in both of these departments, Ms. Arias’ influence on the editorial program of Inner Traditions cannot be ignored. She has been a highly regarded reader of manuscripts, particularly in the areas of human development, psychology, mysticism, and the perennial traditions. Her advice and suggestions have been invaluable and have resulted in a number of major and very successful additions to our list.
